1. What qr-cow is
qr-cow is a web service for designing, hosting, and tracking QR codes. Static codes are free and require no account. Dynamic codes (editable destination + scan analytics) require a paid subscription. The full feature list lives on /pricing.
2. Your account
- You're responsible for keeping your password and any API tokens secret. Revoke a token in /dashboard/api the moment you think it's been seen by anyone else.
- One human, one account. Don't share login credentials with colleagues — create separate accounts. We don't charge per-seat; the rule is just so we can hold the right person responsible if something goes wrong.
- You must be at least 13 years old to sign up. If you're in a jurisdiction with a higher digital-consent age (16 in some EU states), that applies to you instead.
- You're responsible for everything done through your account, including by anyone you give your password to.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to point qr-cow QR codes at, or use the service to:
- Distribute malware, viruses, or anything else designed to harm a device.
- Run phishing campaigns or any kind of credential-harvesting scheme. Dynamic redirects that mimic a legitimate brand's login page are a fast path to account termination.
- Distribute CSAM, terrorism material, or anything else illegal in the user's or qr-cow's jurisdiction.
- Spam — sending unsolicited messages, scraping the API to harvest data, or otherwise abusing rate-limited endpoints.
- Resell qr-cow as your own service without a written agreement (use the API + a paid subscription for integrations on top of qr-cow — that's allowed and encouraged).
- Bypass security measures: reverse-engineering rate limits, scraping behind the auth gate, etc.
We will suspend accounts the moment we have credible evidence of any of the above, refund any unused portion of a paid period, and report illegal content to the appropriate authority.
4. Your content
- You own everything you upload — QR content, design configurations, logos. We don't claim any ownership of it.
- You grant us a non-exclusive licence to host, render, and serve that content for the purpose of operating qr-cow. Cancelling your subscription or deleting the QR code revokes the licence.
- We can show your codes anonymously in aggregated stats (e.g. "qr-cow served X scans this month") but never with identifying data. We never use your content to train ML models.
5. Paid plans
- Pricing: as listed on /pricing at the time you subscribe. We can change pricing for new sign-ups any time; existing subscribers keep their current price for as long as they stay subscribed.
- Payment: crypto only (USDT, BTC, ETH, LTC, DOGE, TRX), via NowPayments. Once your payment confirms on-chain, your plan activates and runs for 30 days.
- Renewal: manual. We do not auto-renew because crypto subscriptions can't reasonably auto-charge. You'll get a reminder email a few days before your period ends.
- Cancellation: just stop paying. Your dynamic codes keep redirecting until your paid-through date; after that the redirect goes 410 Gone. Analytics keep accumulating for read-only access for 30 days past expiry, then are deleted.
- Refunds: the first 7 days of any new subscription are eligible for a full refund, no questions asked. Email [email protected] and we'll send it back to the same wallet. After day 7, no refunds.
- Tax: prices are ex-VAT. Where required by your jurisdiction, your invoice will include the applicable local tax.
6. Service availability
We aim for 99.9% uptime measured monthly. We do not offer a contractual SLA or service credits on consumer-tier plans; that would let us pretend the few hours of downtime we have per year are a meaningful product feature, which they aren't. Status: email us if you think the site's down.
Scheduled maintenance happens off-peak European hours and is announced in the dashboard a day in advance.
7. Termination
- You can terminate any time — delete your account in Dashboard → Account. Hard- deletion runs within 24 hours. Backups rotate out in 30 days.
- We can terminate for any of the acceptable-use violations above, for prolonged non-payment (90 days past expiry), or if you abuse our humans. We'll give you 7 days notice + a JSON export opportunity unless the violation is severe enough that we need to act immediately.
8. Intellectual property
The qr-cow name, mascot, marketing site, and source code are ours (except for the open-source bits, which keep their own licences). You get no rights to any of these except to use the service as intended. Your QR content is yours; see section 4.
9. Third-party services
Where you link your account to Google or Facebook OAuth, your use of those is subject to their respective terms. Where you pay via NowPayments, your payment is subject to their terms. See the Privacy Policy for the complete list of sub-processors.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
qr-cow is provided "as is." We try hard to keep it accurate, available, and secure, but we don't promise it will always be. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties — merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and the rest of the boilerplate list. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected by this clause where you live in a jurisdiction that grants them.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of these terms or your use of qr-cow is limited to the greater of:
- The amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or
- USD 50.
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost data, or reputational harm — even if we were warned they were possible. We are not liable for losses caused by anyone scanning your QR codes, or for any business decision you make based on the analytics we report.
Nothing in this clause limits liability we cannot lawfully exclude (e.g. fraud, gross negligence, or harm caused by defective digital content under consumer law).
12. Changes to these terms
We can change these terms. Material changes get a 14-day email notice + the "Last updated" date above moves forward. Continuing to use qr-cow after the effective date means you accept the new terms; if you don't, delete your account in that window and we'll refund any unused subscription period.
13. Governing law + disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where qr-cow is operated. Disputes that can't be resolved by email should be brought in that jurisdiction's competent courts. Where local consumer protection law overrides this (most of the EU, UK, parts of the US), that overriding law applies instead.
14. Contact
[email protected] for general questions, [email protected] for refunds or invoice issues, [email protected] to report a QR code that violates section 3, and [email protected] for GDPR / CCPA requests.
